My glasses suddenly feel inadequate…

“And no matter where I roam, I forget that I was born in Mississippi unless’n the question comes up, because this really seems like home, Chicago. The most enjoyment I ever had out of life in America was in Chicago. It wasn’t peaches and cream, man, but it was a hell of a lot better than down there where I was born.”

The 10 Lamest Dinosaur Names »

Dinosaurs once ruled the land, air and sea with an iron fist. While that iron fist was often connected to ridiculous, tiny baby arms, it should be noted that those tiny arms were attached to giant motherfucking lizards that, were they alive today, would be lounging atop the food chain sipping giant tropical drinks with people garnishes.

J's mom: I looked him up online, and I'm pretty sure he's a barred owl.
J's dad: (in background, over speakerphone) How do you know he's a bard owl? Has he been reading you poetry?
J's mom: Your father has made that joke twenty times this week. I think I'm going to kill him.

”Ooh Girl!” - An Honest R&B Song

Chicago - Carl Sandburg

Hog Butcher for the World,
Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat,
Player with Railroads and the Nation’s Freight Handler;
Stormy, husky, brawling,
City of the Big Shoulders:

They tell me you are wicked and I believe them, for I have seen your painted women under the gas lamps luring the farm boys.

And they tell me you are crooked and I answer: Yes, it is true I have seen the gunman kill and go free to kill again.

And they tell me you are brutal and my reply is: On the faces of women and children I have seen the marks of wanton hunger.

And having answered so I turn once more to those who sneer at this my city, and I give them back the sneer and say to them:

Come and show me another city with lifted head singing so proud to be alive and coarse and strong and cunning.

Flinging magnetic curses amid the toil of piling job on job, here is a tall bold slugger set vivid against the little soft cities;

Fierce as a dog with tongue lapping for action, cunning as a savage pitted against the wilderness,

      Bareheaded,
      Shoveling,
      Wrecking,
      Planning,
      Building, breaking, rebuilding,

Under the smoke, dust all over his mouth, laughing with white teeth,

Under the terrible burden of destiny laughing as a young man laughs,

Laughing even as an ignorant fighter laughs who has never lost a battle,

Bragging and laughing that under his wrist is the pulse, and under his ribs the heart of the people,

      Laughing!

Laughing the stormy, husky, brawling laughter of Youth, half-naked, sweating, proud to be Hog Butcher, Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat, Player with Railroads and
Freight Handler to the Nation.

“I’da said thems my boys if she hadna been sleepin around like a porcupine.”

Lindsey: vaccuums
Jack: Hey, you know what sucks in a metaphorical sense?
Lindsey: black holes
Jack: Hey, you know what just isn't cool?
Lindsey: lava?

WWII Bomber: "Trademark Infringement" »

BoingBoing: John Macneill is a kickass 3D illustrator whose work frequently appears Popular Science and other national magazines. He also contributes to the Turbo Squid 3D model site.

Recently In 2002 he uploaded his model of a WWII B-24 Bomber to Turbo Squid. Lockeed Martin came across it and yesterday it wrongfully (illegally?) used the DMCA to force Turbo Squid to remove the file.
